From the Presidents Rosie Rourke, Sonja GundersonI found myself counting down the school days with my kids the other day. The end of school year is quickly approaching! Being the PTSA Co-President this year has been so rewarding. Sonja and I had lofty goals at the beginning of the school year. With the help of the PTSA members, PTSA Board, and countless volunteers, we were able to accomplish those goals. We thank you for all you have done for the kids. We still have some fun plans ahead! You won't want to miss the Variety Show. And, the 6th graders will be experiencing a memorable luncheon just for them...shh! The details for the party is a closely held secret. Hope the kids have a terrific time on their field trips--paid for by the PTSA-- thanks to fund raising.

School Supply Kit Orders
We are excited to announce that we will be utilizing the services of SchoolKidz and their Teacher Tailored School Supply Kit Program as a great alternative for parents who are looking to purchase back-to-school supplies. Order information will be provided soon. This program will save you time and make back-to-school shopping less of a hassle. Teachers provided their
supply list for each grade level, Staples assembled the kits at discounted rates. The PTSA & school do not make a profit—we pass the savings along to our hard-working parents! The kits get delivered to your child’s desk the first day of school. Field Trip Volunteers
Just a reminder… if you are planning on volunteering at your child’s field trip, you need to have finger prints on file with the school district. If you have already been fingerprinted, you do not need to do it
again. If you have not been, you cannot volunteer. It takes time, so plan ahead. Call the school office. Book Fair Success
The book fair was a big success! Thank you for all your support. Each teacher was able to purchase many new books for their classrooms which was funded by the purchases of the books and hard work of the Fairwood PTSA volunteers. Thank you to all the great volunteers, Lisa DePriest and Kellie Warren for co-chairing
this committee. |
Variety Show - Last Call!![]() Click for sign-up form
Does your child have a talent they would like to showcase? Then we would love to see it at the Variety Show on June 5th at 6:30pm in the school gym. There will be a preview on May 24th and 25th at 3:00pm also in the gym so we can
determine the line-up for the big night and make sure the performances are appropriate. Students will be notified ahead of time which preview day they are assigned. We ask that performances last 2-4 minutes and that props be kept to a minimum and are easy to set-up and take down. Individuals and groups are welcome to sign up. Please fill out the sign-up form and return to your teacher no later than May 15th. Late entries will not be accepted. Also, volunteers are needed! Please contact Katie Valencia to volunteer or with questions at tommyvsmom@yahoo.com or (206) 304-7555. Thank you Teachers!
Thank you to all those who sent in tokens of your appreciation during Teacher Appreciation week. Our Fairwood teachers are some of the best teachers, and this is a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and
skills to educating our children. The PTSA donated a well-needed microwave for the break room along with microwavable goodies! Thank you for supporting the PTSA. And, special thanks to Kendra Cabrera for her assistance in coordinating this gift. |
